Wolverine's back!

Rumours that Hugh Jackman will have a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse have been rampant for the past year or so, but the cast and crew were repeatedly and consistently insistent he was, for the first time ever, sitting out an X-movie. Yeah...you were right to be sceptical- the final trailer for the films ends with a quick sequence involving Mystique, Jean Grey and Cyclops talking about how they had some "help" taking down a corridor full of goons.Cut to a flexed arm sporting three razor-sharp claws. Yes!

Like Spider-Man, only with mutants, it's a neat little tease built on promise that thankfully doesn't give all that much away.

Although just because Jackman's arm is on screen for all of half a second doesn't mean that it isn't a revealing moment. The confirmation that Logan will appear poses a lot of questions and completely realigns everything we thought we knew about the film. Here are ten of the most interesting theories.

Honourable Mention - It's Not Actually Wolverine

It is important to note that we still have no official confirmation Wolverine is in the movie. In an interview with Empire on the trailer, Bryan Singer even put great care into keeping the identity of the clawed saviour a mystery, leaving it open for a Mandarin-level switcheroo; perhaps another mutant has been given adamantium claws, a major shift to the timeline that puts Logan on a different path.

Yeah, I'm not exactly convinced either. This almost definitely is Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine for the eighth time - he did visit the set and tweeted the clip out, after all - especially given how a misdirect like this could only get fans annoyed (at least The Mandarin hadn't been built up for the past sixteen years on film). But you can bet this is going to be something that pops up regaularly as speculation goes crazy over the next month.
