10 Things In Star Wars Already Dumber Than The New Lightsaber

These make the cross-guard look pretty cool, actually.

Star Wars fans are rallying against the new lightsaber design, but many forget that the already existing films are packed with equally ridiculous moments and plot points. Most are also oblivious to the fact that the cross-guard lightsaber design has appeared in Star Wars lore before. Although, as Disney threw out the Expanded Universe canon when they began production on The Force Awakens they seem to be picking and choosing what they want to include. Either way, there's an inordinate amount of complaining over such a minor detail. The design was done, frankly, to look cool. After all, you have to do something gimmicky to complete with Darth Maul's dual-edged lightsaber from The Phantom Menace. And if cool was the goal, then they succeeded - impractical though it may be, it is kind of a cool twist on the traditional lightsaber. And it's not as if gimmicky hasn't been tried, to varying degrees of success, in the franchise in the past, right? This is the movie series that gave us Wookies, Jabba the Hut's pet Salacious B. Crumb, and chirping, cute droids after all. So ease up on the disdain over the new lightsaber look (which will no doubt be a one-off), and examine ten things in the Star Wars universe that are far, far dumber.
