10 Things You Didn't Know About Jason Momoa

6. He Has Famous Surfer Relatives In His Family Lineage

Seeing as how Momoa hails from Hawaii, it isn't really a surprise that he comes from a surfing background. What is a surprise is how deep surfing runs in Momoa's family lineage. As it turns out, Momoa is the nephew of Brian and Rusty Keaulana, two world-famous Hawaiian surfers. Rusty was so successful in the sport that he managed to win 3 ASP World Longboard Tours in a row from 1993 to 1995. Just to further prove how good Rusty is, a 44 year-old Rusty made a comeback in an ASP world tour event in 2010 as a wildcard and made it to the semi-finals. Brian on the other hand was more focused on teaching people how to surf and he became an extensive water stunt coordinator for numerous major films. Just to cap off Momoa's surfing family tree, the legendary 'Buffalo' Keaulana, his great-uncle and father to Brian and Rusty, was known as one of the most naturally gifted surfers ever. With an athletic background and such a strong water-sport pedigree in his family, this should squash any doubts that Momoa's take on Aquaman will be anything less than awesome.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
