10 Things You Didn't Know About Luke Skywalker

9. George Lucas (Probably) Named Luke After Himself

This is something that a lot of people - despite being hardcore Star Wars fans - have never actually realised. Which is weird when you think how obvious it is in retrospect, because Luke's name and George Lucas' own are very similar. Too similar, perhaps? There's an element of speculation to this one, but there are a few reasons to believe that George Lucas did, in fact, name Luke after himself. For starters, there's the fact that - in High School - Lucas' nicknamed was "Luke." Further evidence can be found when you spell out the name as "Luke S.", which - pronounced phonetically - sounds like "Lucas." This, coupled with the notion that "Luke" isn't a very fantastical name, all things considered, makes a fairly solid case for the connection. Lucas himself has never admitted to the fact, of course, but he's never been a reliable source when it comes to stuff like this. Take it as a foregone conclusion.
