10 Things You Didn't Know About Luke Skywalker

4. He Built His Green Lightsaber In A Cave On Tatooine

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ayT0EZwbks There are a few people who sat down to Return of the Jedi and thought: "Hey, where did Luke get his green lightsaber from?" And what a lot of those people don't know is that there once existed a cut of Episode VI that set out to explain how Luke acquired his new weapon in the wake of losing his iconic blue one in the previous film. In a deleted scene, Luke was shown putting the finishing touches to his new green lightsaber on Tatooine, mere moments before sending C-3PO and R2-D2 to Jabba's Palace to initiate Han Solo's rescue mission. The scene was ultimately cut, clearly because it wasn't deemed necessary - not to mention that it doesn't make all that much sense for Luke to finish building his lightsaber so last minute; surely he would've forged a new blade a long time before he set out to rescue Han, given that much time seemed to have passed between the events of Episode V and Episode VI, and Luke was clearly more attuned to the Force? Still, in case your ever wondered about the green lightsaber: Luke built it on Tatooine in a cave (and, in a bonus fact, modelled it after Obi-Wan's own Jedi weapon).
