10 Things You Need To Know About Avengers: Infinity War

Prepare to meet Thanos.

Next year's Avengers: Infinity War is going to blow up the box office and (hopefully) take the Marvel Cinematic Universe to exciting new heights.

The project finally sees the titular superhero group take on the all-powerful titan Thanos (Josh Brolin), and is the culmination of a decade of meticulous world-building like never attempted in cinema before.

While it's certainly possible that the movie could simply buckle under the weight of its own portent and the unavoidable pressure to one-up Civil War, if it succeeds, it'll be just about every comic book fan's wet dream come true. And with the well-proven Russo Brothers steering the ship, it's easy to be optimistic about the outcome.

Shooting is already well underway, and fans are naturally scrambling to find every morsel of info from leaks and teases straight off the set.

Marvel Studios clearly loves toying with their legion of fans on social media, while still leaving enough unknown that finally sitting down to see the finished product next May should be a mind-meltingly joyous experience.

Here are 10 things you really need to know about Avengers: Infinity War...

10. Thor Gets A New Weapon

Marvel Studios dropped a video last week that announced the commencement of shooting on Infinity War, and one of the more interesting images in the clip was concept art from the movie, of Thor fighting alongside Rocket Raccoon.

As if that wasn't cool enough, we can see that Thor isn't in fact wielding Mjolnir, but it rather looks like Jarnbjorn, an axe Thor used in the comics prior to obtaining the Hammer to End All Hammers.

It's known that much of Thor: Ragnarok's plot involves the Asgardian being separated from Mjolnir, so it's entirely possible that he isn't able to get it back in time for Infinity War, which is also a clever way of nerfing The Avengers' overall power during their first encounter with Thanos.

He'll probably get it back in time for the inevitable rematch against Thanos in the fourth Avengers film, though.
