10 Things You Need To Know About The Spectacular Spider-Man

10. Drew Goddard Is Writing And Directing

This isn't all that surprising. Drew Goddard left Netflix's Daredevil after writing the first two episodes (he would have also served as director and showrunner had he remained) in order to focus on Sony's Sinister Six spinoff. The deal with Marvel meant that project was as good as dead, and it was clear from those "Sony Hack" emails that the studio would strive to make this up to the director by having him helm the Spider-Man reboot for Marvel. A comic book fan and disciple of Joss Whedon, it's hard to fault the choice of Goddard. He's done great work as a writer on the likes of Alias, Cloverfield, Lost, and World War Z, while The Cabin in the Woods - his directorial debut - was met with a very positive response. The fact is, Marvel clearly saw something in the filmmaker to put Daredevil in his hands, so Goddard having both their support and Sony's backing surely makes him a strong choice.
