10 Tired Film Franchises That Desperately Need A Break

9. Terminator

James Cameron's original two films are the stuff of cinematic legend, both having respectively earned their keep in the pantheon of great science fiction films. Sadly, Cameron left the franchise to pursue sunken ships and blue people, and left us all to suffer. The result was three different follow-ups, all of which ignored each other, and all of which tried to be a 'true' sequel to T2. Sadly, they were all just slightly different experiments in failure.

Terminator 3 was a hollow shell that copied way too much of T2's homework, Terminator Salvation was such a slog even Christian Bale's reputation couldn't make it out alive, and Terminator Genisys can go die in a hole.

Though they are working on making a sixth film, which will act as yet another reboot, they most definitely should leave it alone. Five films bear the Terminator name and only two have been worth anything, and then there's the timeline, which is so complicated and muddled, it's hardly worth the trouble.

At least we'll always have the first two...
