3. Planet of the Apes (Romania)
The Romanian poster for
Planet of the Apes is only partially successful in its attempts to sum up the events of that movie: there's an ape-like creature who looks more like a Marvel super-villain getting ready for a
Vogue shoot, whilst a terrified woman simply calls out for Charlton Heston to come rescue her. Is he playing himself in the movie, then? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what this speech bubble implies, does it not? I don't know if the guy behind bars is supposed to be Charlton, either, but I hope to God it's not - his body shape is far from regular, and his pose is... campy, to say the least. Still, I think this is beautiful in its own weird way, sort of like Roy Lichtenstein's younger, more mentally-challenged brother had tried to be just like him for a week.
