10 Trailers That Were Way Better Than Their Films

Darth Maul How many times have we seen an incredible trailer only to be horribly let down by the end result? Be it smart marketing, stunning visuals, familiar tropes or just an amazing song, we have all been hyped to the point of inevitable disappointment at one time or another. This article will list ten trailers that were better than their actual film. Some films listed are so bad that a half decent trailer was always going to be the best we could hope for, but some selections might suprise you. So sit back and watch these trailers while marvelling at what could and should have been.

10. Batman And Robin

batman_and_robin_1997_685x385 Batman and Robin has deservedly appeared on numerous €˜Worst Film Ever€™ lists. With an over bloated cast, horrific dialogue, €œCan you stay cool Batman?€ and Bat nipples so pointy a 3D re-release might be worthwhile, the film took everything negative said about comic book movies and shoved them down audiences throats. Before this abomination of a film however, we got a fairly decent trailer. With Danny Elfman€™s iconic theme from the first two instalments as its music, we were treated to a few shots of compelling action along with Arnold bloody Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. The film's decent sub plot of Alfred dying is portrayed throughout, giving us something to latch onto emotionally, but then to counter that we also get lots of neon face paint and Alicia Silverstone as Barbara Pennyworth. We should have known. http://youtu.be/aKNSstnq4sg

As a pretty nerdy guy, I've loved film and television since I was a wee lad. Growing up in Ireland, The Den was the show to watch with it playing Batman The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and everything in between. I have an MA in Radio and Television Production and have written for various sites, hope you enjoy my articles/lists for What Culture!
