10 Upcoming Movies That Genuinely Sound Like Jokes

Talk about scraping the hunny pot...

The day when Hollywood eventually ran out of logical film pitches to work from was always going to come. The rampant sequelisation and remakes could only last for so long and sooner or later film-makers were going to have to be "brave" and start considering unique properties to fill in the gaps between comic book movies. Sadly, what could have been an opportunity to focus more money on independent films and character pieces by developing talents has instead become open season for the buffoons. And instead of making the next generation of gems, there is a distasteful agenda to just troll the audience, and see how much money they can ring out of audiences for any old garbage. Gimmick optioning is nothing new of course: sometimes it actually works, like with the LEGO Movie, and other times it definitely doesn't, like with almost every other film based on a toy. But sometimes it feels like studios have been consulting that room they set up to see if 1000 chimps working at 1000 type-writers actually could write something for Kevin James to star in. Incredibly, these films are apparently all stone cold guarantees in the next couple of years...
