10 Upcoming Movies That Have Already Ignored Massive Mistakes

Will they never learn?

Hollywood appears destined to repeat the same mistakes on an endless loop, like a less entertaining and infinitely more tragic version of Groundhog Day.

The movie industry has bet the farm on the remake, the reboot and the rehash, and regardless of how many filmmakers come a cropper for raising a middle finger to originality and following this worrying trend, there are no signs of it slowing down.

This is hardly the only sin Hollywood keeps committing. Since Marvel Studios made untold billions from its shared cinematic universe of comic book heroes and villains, you'll rarely come across a blockbuster that exists outside of one.

With any luck, studios, directors and bigwig producers will eventually realise that you can't launch a shared universe overnight, nor is it a bad thing if your film actually stands alone, but there's little evidence of that happening so far.

And the perpetually repeated offences don't stop there, as proven by this unfortunate batch of upcoming disasters waiting to happen...

10. Failing To Quit While You're Ahead - Bond 25

The Lesson: Die Hard

They're destined to keep making Bond films until the end of time, but the decision to recast Daniel Craig as 007 is a criminal example of playing it safe.

After Spectre rounded off his arc, the reboot switch should have been flicked, paving the way for the super spy to be reinvented in a fresh, new way.

Granted, Craig's fifth outing is generally considered inferior to its predecessor, the excellent Skyfall, but there was a sense of gratifying finality about the story as ends met and loose plot threads were tied up.

Franchise holder the Broccoli family is well aware that Craig is a guaranteed money spinner, but they've really pushed their luck creatively by extending his tenure instead of quitting while they were ahead.

Bond could learn a thing or two from the Die Hard franchise which, after three stellar entries that complemented each other, continued churning out films, with Bruce Willis's John McClane looking more dead-eyed and tired each time.

There's no denying that Die Hard 4 and 5 diluted the series, and by squandering the chance to reinvent 007, the Broccolis are running the risk of doing the same with Bond.
