10 Upcoming Movies With Troubled Productions

9. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

For over decade Marvel Studios has been a locomotive that has done nothing but build momentum. The well-oiled machine has had few hitches, perhaps the most major of which coming last year and affecting their least probable franchise.

James Gunn has written and directed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies and was all set to take the helm of Vol. 3, teasing the script online. However, in July of last year, Gunn was fired as Director after some unsavory tweets resurfaced. Gunn was later rehired in March and we can't exactly know how sincere Disney's intentions to replace him were, but production for the film suffered.

GOTG Vol. 3 was set to begin filming later this year, but with Gunn off the project production was halted and was eventually pushed back once he was reinstated. Marvel hasn't released the titles of their phase 4 films yet, but they did confirm a release schedule. Only two MCU films are slated for 2020, a departure from 2017-2019 which featured three titles per year and 2021-22 that also have three scheduled annually .

With the original date of filming and 2020 featuring only two MCU films, it stands to reason that Vol. 3 was originally scheduled for a release next year. That clearly won't happen as Marvel Studios has suffered a Phase 4 setback with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
