10 Upcoming Netflix Movies That Are Probably Going To Suck

Release Date: December 22, 2017

Chances are lots of folk are looking at Bright and thinking, "What? That looks like the most awesome movie ever!" Hold your horses, though, guys, because despite its intriguing premise (half cop movie, half fantasy film), this has all the makings of a true cinematic disaster. Let us count the ways...

Firstly, it's based on a script by Max Landis, the super prolific screenwriter who hasn't written a passable film since Chronicle, back in 2012. Everything else that Landis has done has been half-baked, lacking in almost every way. Landis' problem is that he has great ideas and concepts, but never seems able to do them justice. His characters are underdeveloped, his plots askew... it's a real bummer to watch.

Next up, we've got David Ayer on directorial duties. Now, Ayer can be good, as proven by at least some of his output (Training Day, End of Watch), but he also made Suicide Squad, and that's a cinematic crime that cannot be forgiven.

Finally, Will Smith. Will Smith hasn't made a good film since Men in Black III, and Men in Black III wasn't exactly groundbreaking. Smith only seems to pick terrible projects these days, which doesn't exactly inspire hope for this. Especially since he appears to be - once again - reprising the same character beats we've all seen before.

To reiterate, the concept here is really neat, but the trailer's shoddy CGI, bad Will Smith jokes, and weird tonal switching suggests an underwhelming mess.
