10 Video Games Movies We Want To See (And Who Should Direct)

Me2 Nothing has had a more complicated relationship with cinema than video games, particularly when they're used as source material. Everything from Mortal Kombat to Street Fighter, Tomb Raider to Hitman, even Prince of Persia and Resident Evil have found their popularity enough to warrant movie adaptations. Although most adaptations usually turn out sub-par, either disappointing audiences or angering fans, there have been a few exceptions, but now that video games are coming closer to cinematic experiences than ever before, cinema has started discussing well-known franchises as alternatives to books, comics, and classic films as stories to adapt. Here is a list of 10 video games that may or may not be rumoured to become films, and some directors who could quite possibly make them happen...

10. Dead Space €“ Neill Blomkamp

Dead SpaceVideo Game: Creepy and dark, Dead Space is a game full of jump scares and grotesque monsters that can keep a player on edge. In this series, we follow engineer Isaac Clarke as he battles his way through unpredictable hordes of Necromorphs (reanimated, mutated corpses) and his visions brought on by a religious Marker, possibly responsible for the chaos at hand. An already intense thrill as a video game, this survival horror title should translate its fear and suspense very well to the screen. Director: There are various directors that I believe could take over this project, but the visuals of District 9 and Elysium's director, Neill Blomkamp, would be an excellent choice. Having already proven his worth in the science-fiction genre full of gritty aliens and clean special effects in not-so-clean future environments, NB should be able to hit the mark of moment-to-moment scares and narrative that weave throughout. Still kind of new on the scene, NB has delivered fun films that have the rough texture that would make Dead Space a great film.
