10 Ways Phase 3 Could Ruin The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spider-Man! And other heroes you don't know...

Go big or go home. That's the strategy moving forward with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio began as a total gamble, with the comic publisher moving into independent film production on a whim. And it worked out; were rewarded in huge box office receipts, a whole new fan following and were eventually bought for megabucks by the Disney corporation. Now they've announced their release schedule for the next decade. That is pretty ballsy, although they have reason to be so. The build up to the first Avengers team-up film was retroactively branded €œPhase 1€ and now, with the release of Age Of Ultron approaching (and Ant-Man hitting in July), they're about to close out €œPhase 2€ of their grand experiment. The second wave of Marvel movies saw them sticking to the winning formula in some ways and switching it up to try something new in others. And, again, it paid off, for the most part. What some of the Phase 2 films lacked in critical acclaim compared to their earlier instalments, they made up for it in profits. All of which leaves Marvel in rather rude health, hence the announcement of all their movies up to 2019. It was a throwing down of the gauntlet, and an unspoken promise that all these films are going to be great. Otherwise, why would they commit to them all? But pop culture is a cruel beast, and this could easily all go tits up and leave them wishing they'd gone a little smaller. These are ten ways Phase 3 could ruin the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
