I think few of us expected that Paranormal Activity would result in five films to date (as well as one unofficial Japanese one), with a sixth film currently in pre-production. It is nothing short of a phenomenon, but for me it's clear that the series has pretty much run its course, having been surviving off fumes for at least the last two entries. Rather than address the compelling mystery of Hunter's abduction in PA2, it has simply been dragged out for PA3 and PA4, before Hunter finally ended up in Katie's arms again at the end of the fourth film. It's clear to me that the series should move straight to its end-game, some sort of epic showdown. Rumours suggest that PA5 is going to deal with a worldwide network of witches that control the events of the movies, and bringing the entire series to a big-scale showdown in PA5 would certainly make for a fitting, unique end. Don't drag the series on and on as the box office numbers fall and fall. Have a little respect for the audience and wrap it up nice and quickly.
