10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2018

Just when you thought last year's The Bye Bye Man was the worst that horror could do...

The horror genre is perhaps the most mixed bunch of films you can get on the big screen. Functioning on getting a reaction out of its audience, horror movies often veer too far out of what's scary and get lost in somewhere campy and ridiculous, succumbing to laugh-out-loud nonsense rather than the spine-tingling terror they advertise. Guess which ones are on this list?

Whilst movies that know what they are and offer a little self-aware fun are often the best of their kind, the films that fall flat on their face trying are definitely the worst. And oh boy, has 2018 offered up some big old stinkers in the 'worst' department.

From badly fleshed out spooky stories, to unnecessary sequels, to remakes that deserve to be locked away in the darkness and never considered again: these are the very worst horror movies of the year. If there's one redeeming factor at the very least, one has to come out on top as being the best of the bad - so there's one thing the number 1 spot will have going for it.

10. The Predator

By far not the worst movie you could sit yourself through this year, that doesn't make The Predator any good. Considering it's got such a huge production unit behind it, as well as the driving force of the franchise, AS WELL as the usually very on-form Shane Black at the helm, The Predator should have been the spark that reignited the Predator properties and got fans excited to see giant 'Sports Hunters' once more. But it wasn't.

An uneven film at best, there are times when The Predator shows its potential, but always gives in to confusing, muddled visual work that doesn't really convey what's going on accurately. Characters die without the audience really being aware of it, dogs are thrown in for no real reason, and the story overall suffers, though it is for the sake of campy, 80s action fun.

How much that bothers you depends on your taste for spectacle, at the heart of it.
