10 WTF Moments In Film You Won't Believe They Got Away With

10. Underage And Over-Sexed

The Film: Kids For a while, it was difficult to find a more controversial film than Larry Clark's urban drama Kids, thanks to its almost gleeful representation of a group of promiscuous teenagers, and their reckless and unrestrained approach to sex and hedonism. The film is provocative in the highest, featuring all-too-real-looking simulated sex between minors, authentic-seeming drug use and a skewed moral message that continues to attract negative responses regarding the film's artistic merit and agenda even now. The outrageous moments come thick and fast, but the stand-out, which probably contributed to the film's initial NC-17 and subsequent Unrated ratings comes as the film reaches its conclusion, and pretty much everyone has been infected with the HIV virus. Not content with showing the lecherous predator Telly (Leo Fitzpatrick) seduce a younger girl, and presumably infect her, the film then pushes the controversy even further by having Telly's friend Casper (Justin Pierce) rape female lead Jennie (Chloe Sevigny) who has just discovered she is HIV positive. Cheerful. You have to suspect that Harvey Weinstein neglected to run this particular one past parent company Disney when Miramax paid for the worldwide distribution rights.
