100 Most Disappointing Films Of All Time

2. Star Wars Prequels

Star-Wars-prequels-Topher-Grace Remember the frenzy in 1999 surrounding the prospect of more films set in the Star Wars universe? It was a bit similar to the frenzy surrounding now the news that Disney will be making more films set in the Star Wars universe. With George Lucas back on script and directing duties and promises that the back story of Vader will take center stage, plastic lightsabers around the world went erect in multi-coloured excitement. This was the news that Star Wars fans had been waiting for since 1986. I don't think I need to go into too much what happened next and that is why all three prequel films are listed together because they all suffered from the same problems. Crap script, rubbish acting, too much CGI, Jar Jar Binks, Darth Vader shouting ''Noooooooooooo.....'', there are too many issues to list. The biggest problem was that people who fell in love with the original trilogy were now grown up adults and the prequels were written for a younger audience and primarily to sell LOTS OF TOYS!!! Grown up Jedi's who attended midnight screenings were inevitably let down, it was a bit like meeting your ex-girlfriend but only to find that she has no interest in you and has sexed herself up to find a younger toy boy. Those hoping Disney takes the franchise in a more adult direction may be setting themselves up for another disappointment. No company spends $4 Billion without a plan to make the money back and the quickest way is by making children bug their parents for that Darth Vader Lunchbox and Jar Jar toothbrushes.
