11 Awesome Movie Characters We Really Didn't Want To Die

The Lion King

There's nothing more devastating than watching a great movie, when all of a sudden your favourite character is killed, especially if it's completely out of nowhere. As film lovers, we're a sentimental bunch, and it's easy to get attached to characters after 2 hours (or even considerably less) of a well-written story, such that when they meet their shocking demise, we're gutted, and even angry at the film for manipulating our emotions so brilliantly. The viewer then typically stews in their own resentment for the rest of the film, hoping that the character might magically return at the eleventh hour to save the day. Whatever the rhyme or reason behind their deaths, these are 10 awesome characters who lit up the films they starred in, and while we really didn't want them to die, the film just wouldn't be the same without their ultimate sacrifice...

11. Randy Meeks - Scream 2

Scream 2 Jamie KennedyWho Is He?: Smart-ass horror film fanatic and student who lays down "the rules" for surviving a horror movie in the first film, and is often suspected for being the killer, given his encyclopedia knowledge of the genre and his crush on Sydney. How Does He Die?: In Scream 2, Randy gets dragged into a van by Ghostface, who promptly stabs him to death violently, before he is discovered by Gale, Dewey and Sydney moments later. Why He Should Have Lived: Randy was a fan-favourite character, and as such his demise annoyed a lot of people. Plus, Wes Craven clearly realised killing him was a mistake, as he makes a cameo appearance in Scream 3 via a ham-fisted video he recorded prior to his death.
