11 Changes The MCU Wishes It Could Make

9. A Different Actor For Red Skull

Avengers Spider Man
Marvel Studios

Captain America: The First Avengers should not be the end of the road for the Red Skull. He's too iconic a villain to retire after one movie and his open-ended fate needs to be addressed eventually.

But by hiring Hugo Weaving to play the part, Marvel Studios has painted itself into a corner, since the actor has shown zero desire to ever pull on that crimson mask again.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier marked the perfect opportunity to reintroduce him, or at least reference him, given that Hydra's infiltration of SHIELD was borne out of his legacy, but it's almost as though he never crossed paths with Steve Rogers.

Had Marvel recruited an actor who was keen to stay for the long haul, there's a good chance the Red Skull would have made another appearance by now, but if the plan is to reintroduce him further down the line, recasting the role will be necessary, and that's never ideal where continuity is concerned.
