11 Confusing Moments That Prove All Movies Exist In An Alternate Reality

10. Batman Forever Couldn't Have Existed - Men In Black III

Warner Bros.

One of the long-running gags in the Men In Black movie universe is the idea that aliens have not only infiltrated our world, but also that they have thrived, and in some cases risen to the top of the fame ladder. Over the course of the three films, such celebrities as Sylvester Stallone, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, Lady Gaga and Newt Gingrich have been outed as alien guests in disguise, but one particular jokey reference complicates the movie universe with something of a paradox.

Given his cooky look, it was only a matter of time before Tim Burton was included as an alien, and the third movie duly obliged, repeating the monitoring screens gag from the first movie that dropped in incidental cameos for eagle-eyed viewers. The only problem with that is that though he passed directing duties over to Joel Schumacher, Burton was still attached to Batman Forever as a producer, complicating his appearance in the same movie as Forever star Tommy Lee Jones as a completely different character. So apparently in the Men In Black universe, Batman Forever doesn't exist, or at least someone else played Two Face, which might not have been the worst thing.
