When you're making a $200 million movie with a ton of different moving parts and dozens of departments all answering to a single director, it's not terribly surprising that most major Hollywood films, even great ones, are absolutely riddled with plot holes.

2017 was certainly no exception, with some of the year's biggest films making huge logical leaps, screwing up their own firmly-established continuity, flagrantly contradicting themselves and basically just taking viewers out of an experience that's supposed to help them escape real life.

From massive superhero blockbusters to some of 2017's most talked-about animated movies and everything in-between, these are the year's most baffling plot holes, which while easily missed on a first viewing, are practically impossible to ignore once you're made aware of them.

Some might call these holes "nitpicks" that undermine the bigger picture of each movie, but for the most part, these gaping holes could've been so easily plugged up with a little more critical thought put into each script...
