What an utter waste of time that was.

Though Marvel have unquestionably popularised the post-credits scene in contemporary cinema, it's been a thing (albeit a far less frequent thing) for decades now, a not-so-sly way for movie studios to put the feelers out for a potential sequel without needing to fully commit to it should the original movie crash and burn at the box office. Sure, this isn't the only purpose for the scenes: sometimes they're just throwaway gags in standalone movies, a little added value for those who apparently cared enough to acknowledge all the people who worked on the movie, but the majority of the time, they're supposed to mean something, right? These 11 movies each presented infuriatingly obtuse, pointless and bizarre post-credits scenes which bucked audience expectation and left audiences more restless and irritated than had there not been a scene altogether. If the goal was to provide one last thrill, then these films all categorically failed at that task. From cutting room material which should've stayed there to tedious sequel teases, freaky cameos and even a lengthy extra sequence, these scenes probably did more damage and wrought more outrage than they were worth, which given the clear effort put into making some of them, is rather depressing.
