Last week the world of entertainment was hit with the rather spectacular news that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures had agreed a deal that will see Marvel's flagship character, Spider-Man, appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As difficult as the deal would have been to agree on, it really was inevitable, as the Webbed Wonder deserved nothing less than a place in the most successful comic book movie franchise of all time. The deal will still give Sony Pictures much of the creative control, but the fact is Spidey will now be appearing alongside the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor. As if there weren't enough possibilities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe already, the franchise now has Spider-Man's rich back-catalogue to work with. The character is set to appear in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and will then get his own solo reboot in 2017 (though there are rumours his first appearance could actually be in this year's Avengers: Age Of Ultron in some sort of cameo role). He will, of course, also feature in future Avengers movies and could potentially appear in the various Marvel television shows.
