The female lead opposite Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager for next year's Transformers 5 will reportedly be the star of Nickelodeon's 1000 Things to Do Before High School, Isabela Moner.

She will be just 15 years old at the time of shooting, and a leaked character synopsis describes her as, "A street-smart tomboy who grew up an orphan and was raised in foster care. She counts a small Transformer as her only friend… until she meets [Mark] Wahlberg’s heroic inventor Cade Yeager."

It's a surprising and bold move for a series that effortlessly clocks up billion-dollar grosses. Is this a craven attempt to capture a bigger chunk of the kid market, or will it backfire and turn off slightly older teens?
