11 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies That Could Be Better Than Star Wars: The Force Awakens

4. Assassin€™s Creed

While you might initially think of Assassin€™s Creed as more of a historical drama, it€™s undeniable how important the science-fiction elements are to the story. It€™s through these time-bending factors that modern-day inmate Callum Lynch will inhabit the body of 15th century Spaniard Aguilar. The video games are beloved by many and the film is taking the smart route of using the staples of the game€™s story while telling a new tale within the mythology. Ubisoft, the game developer, is heavily involved in production, and despite their inexperience, their knowledge of the subject matter could be invaluable. As if the promise of a potentially amazing video game-to-film adaptation wasn€™t enough on its own, the people bringing it to life give great cause to be excited. Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are re-teaming with their MacBeth director Justin Kurzel so expect a thoughtful, beautiful, science-fiction packed epic, much more akin to a character drama than a popcorn blockbuster like Star Wars.
