Marvel: 11 Ways The MCU Is Definitely Laughing At You

11. Rebooting Spider-Man AGAIN

The decision to persist with a deal to bring Spider-Man into the MCU was a great one, but it hasn't all been plain sailing since. Marvel have now confirmed that Spidey will be both Peter Parker and school age when he appears first in Civil War, which is one home-run and one strike in the same sentence. The problem with the latter point is clearly that Civil War's unmasking scene requires an established superhero to give up their identity for effect. The fact that he will be a kid who's just appeared in the MCU robs that moment of its real impact. And worse, despite the fact that Sony have already given Spider-Man TWO origin tales, Marvel are planning on basically doing it again, even though he will appear fully formed in Civil War. They might claim otherwise, but resetting his timeline will amount to the same thing, even if there's no bite scene involved, and it seems Marvel are entirely ignoring the apathy from fans at the Amazing Spider-Man's pre-occupation with retreading.
