12 Awesome Movie Trailers That Gave Away Nothing

No spoiler alerts needed here.

If you want to avoid movie spoilers nowadays that includes blocking out movie trailers as a rule. Thanks to increasing length and number of adverts released just about every major plot beat is spelled out to audiences ahead of time. This isn't really a new thing - the trailer for Brian De Palma's Carrie shows the pig blood and subsequent school rampage in explicit detail - but in the past decade or so things have really amped up, with pretty much every major release having much of their secrets revealed pre-release. It's a wonder Gone Girl made it into cinemas without its plot spelt out in the trailers. This is one of the biggest negative impacts of the internet on the film industry. Not only does it make rewatching trailers oh-so-easy, meaning every shot is subconsciously absorbed, but it has promoted a culture where we expect more and more. So while the start of a marketing campaign may seem delightfully reserved, you can bet come the week before release things will have gotten ridiculous; the first trailers for Guardians Of The Galaxy had everyone hooked on a feeling, but that magic was soon removed when we got the fifth trailer revealing all the major events. Today, to remind everyone that you can advertise a film without giving all its secrets away, we present you twelve trailers that made you want to see the film without making you think you'd already seen it.
