The Theory: There are so many absurd rumours swirling surrounding Deadpool 2 that we decided to include another, and it makes Cable being one of the mutant kids in Logan seem a whole lot more sensible by comparison.

The first teaser for Deadpool 2 showed an old man being robbed and eventually killed at gunpoint, causing many fans to suspect that the man in question was actually Uncle Ben, who Deadpool hilariously failed to save.

With Cable's involvement likely having at least part of the plot revolve around time travel, it looks like there's probably going to be an extended gag or maybe even a subplot involving him trying to save Spider-Man's beloved uncle.

Why It Can't Be True: It's more likely that this was a cute little gag for the teaser and won't be referenced at all in the final movie, amusing though it is. Plus, it's possible that the screen rights for Ben Parker are currently with Marvel Studios, which may prevent Fox from even using them, hence why the teaser didn't make a more overt nod to the old man's identity.

But..What If?: There is, bizarrely enough, a basis for this in the source material, as Deadpool did meet Uncle Ben in one of the comics, and the fact that the teaser's setting appears to be New York City adds further credibility to the old man being Ben Parker. Plus, at the end of the teaser, Deadpool's eating the man's Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Ben, get it?

Additionally, a poster for Joss Whedon's hit show Firefly is briefly visible, which first aired in 2002, the very same year that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man came out and Uncle Ben got his first major on-screen death.

This would seem to hint back at the time travel aspect involving Cable, though it's worth mentioning that references to Logan are also clearly visible in the scene, making things much more confusing.

While it could just be a disposable teaser goof, the fact that they haven't yet given away the punchline still makes it possible that an expanded Uncle Ben gag could play out in the final film.
