12 Comic Book Movie Characters Who Deserved Better Deaths

4. Professor X (X-Men: The Last Stand)

Patrick Stewart's Professor Charles Xavier is probably the least deserving character of his death on this list. He's arguably the most decent character on it, but he was brutally killed by a woman he had always looked out for - fellow mutant Jean Grey - in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. Grey had been taken over by her alter-ego - the powerful and malevolent Phoenix entity, which Xavier had previously telepathically repressed for her own good - and she disintegrated him with her massive telekinetic powers. He didn't deserve to die like that. He didn't deserve to die at all, as he always had the best interests of other characters at heart, but especially not so callously at the hands of someone he cared for so deeply. Of course, he would re-emerge in the body of a hospital patient in the movie's post-credits scene and his death would be retconned entirely in later movies but, at the time, it undoubtedly seemed extremely harsh for him to be murdered in such a horrifying way.
