12 Defining Moments From The Scream Franchise

What's your favorite scary movie?

MTV's Scream adaptation certainly has large shoes to fill. Following one of the best and most revolutionary horror franchises of all time is a pretty massive undertaking, especially while on a TV budget. Isn't that a terrible idea? That's up for debate, but though fans might be wary about such an iconic series being redone on television, there's plenty of reason to give Scream a new take for a new generation. After all, the original four movies were all commentaries on horror films and the media, discussing the role both play in modern society. But nearly 20 years after Wes Craven's film came out, with the horror genre having completely shifted in so many ways, just think of how much more material there is to work with now. In that way, updating the franchise makes a lot of sense, and television tropes could even be satirized in the same way Craven made fun of movie tropes. But for however different the new series plans to be throughout its run, the TV creators should never forget everything that made the originals so great and memorable. Presented in chronological order, let's take a look at 12 defining moments from the Scream franchise.
