12 Depressing Alternate Endings That Were Way Better Than The Originals

11. Little Shop Of Horrors

Little Shop Of Horrors
Warner Bros.

In the version we all got to see of the classic musical, Audrey II is vanquished when she/he/it gets a little too big for her/his/its roots and decides to eat the original Audrey, prompting Seymour to an uncharacteristic display of testicular fortitude in electrocuting the beast.

The original ending was far less pleasant, with both Seymour and Audrey killed by the dastardly plant (as they are in the stage play the film is based on,) before Audrey II and an army of minions decide to take their crimes to an entirely different level...

That expensive looking sequence was ultimately dropped, at a massive cost and the film's release was delayed, but it is a far more fitting celebration of Audrey's evil, as well as being how the story was actually supposed to go all along. So what if people were upset by the depressing ending - how else do we imagine an invasion of human-flesh-eating aliens would go, exactly?

The Problem

Everything was apparently going so well, until test audiences revolted at the point Seymour and Audrey are killed. Apparently wiping out your two vulnerable leads will do that to you.
