12 Hilarious Films That Weren't Supposed To Be Funny

Movies that made us scream - with laughter.

In rough cut, Jaws The Revenge had one of the funniest endings ever as the Great White attempted to play chicken with Lorraine Gary€™s boat, only to end up impaled on the broken prow. Fearing a disaster, the producers cut the scene from the original theatrical version, which seemed to end with the shark exploding for no clear reason. If they€™d left the scene intact, however, they might€™ve been able to sell the picture as a good bad movie. Sound unlikely? That€™s exactly what happened when Mommie Dearest (1981), an overwrought adaptation of Christina Crawford€™s account of growing up as Joan Crawford€™s adopted daughter, left audiences rolling in the aisles. Viewers were amused by Faye Dunaway€™s OTT impersonation of the Hollywood legend, particularly in a sequence where she whips her daughter with a coat hanger while uttering the immortal line, €œNo wire hangers €“ EVER!€ To cash in on the film€™s newfound camp status, Paramount adjusted their ad campaign accordingly, urging audiences to go and see €œThe Biggest Mother Of Them All.€ The lettering of the title was also altered to include a wire hanger dangling from the final T. As surely as night follows day, Hollywood makes at least one similar movie a year. Here are 10 of the best.
