12 Huge Questions About 2014's Biggest Movies

Until they arrive, we'll keep wondering about them.

The graveyard period of the year is over, with The Lego Movie well and truly throwing down the gauntlet this past week to all other contenders. Summer blockbuster season gets closer to the start of April every year, so it won't be long before we're chowing down on the year's most expensive and (potentially) awesome movies. That said, it's fun to speculate in the meantime about things that are left up in the air €“ nagging, intriguing questions about the year's biggest movies. Whether drawing from trailer teases, cryptic comments from the filmmakers themselves, or simply rumours, there's a lot to consider for the months ahead, with those knowing the answers smartly keeping their cards close to their chests in order to maintain a level of intrigue right up to release. And feel free to include your own questions in the comments!

12. What Happened To Will? €“ Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the surprisingly excellent Rise of the Planet of the Apes was the relationship between ape Caesar (Andy Serkis) and scientist Will Rodman (James Franco), which ended with Caesar escaping San Francisco, giving Will a hug and declaring, "Caesar is home," at which point Will left him to his own devices. James Franco stated about a year ago that he didn't expect to be back for the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, though did confirm that before director Rupert Wyatt bailed on the sequel, there were plans for him to return in a small capacity. As Franco will be absent from Dawn, the question remains: what exactly happened to his character? This could easily be resolved with a line or two of dialogue, otherwise audiences are going to be left to presume that he was killed in the viral outbreak that takes place at the end of the first film.
