12 R-Rated Comic Book Movies We Need To See After Logan & Deadpool

11. Under The Hood

Batman Under The Hood
DC Comics

As it happens, there are already lots of hints that an Under The Hood movie is on its way: the revelation of Jason Todd's "murder" by The Joker and Harley Quinn has to go somewhere or it's a total waste, and David Ayer recently teased Black Mask for Gotham City Sirens and he's a major part of the arc too.

It all goes a lot deeper than that, but the simple truth is that it really has to be R-rated. The whole point of Red Hood is that he's a less compromising, more brutal version of Batman. He is defined by his willingness to rule fear by his own terror tactics, and to capture that right on screen, it would have to be a hard R.

The Likelihood

With the long-awaited Nightwing movie already incoming and the narrative stage set, it wouldn't be entirely surprising if Warner Bros had plans to adapt the Under The Hood story. Whether or not they'd approach it in a purist way to frame Red Hood as he deserves - i.e. in all of his R-rated glory - is a different matter.

But DC apparently are 100% committed to making an R-rated movie in the immediate future, so maybe they'd realise that's best for business?
