It's fairly common in comic book movie making for scenes to go through various different versions before they end up on actual film, but it's rare that we get to see an alternate version of a key scene in the actual trailer. That would suggest some truly last minute changes beyond a point where it looked like everything was nailed down.

But that was the case with Thor: Ragnarok, whose trailer showed Hela destroying Mjolnir in a back alley in New York. Strangely, when the film came out, that scene happened in a field on a cliff top with no dumpsters to be found anywhere around.

It turns out that Taika Waititi had changed his mindon that entire sequence, as originally when Loki and Thor made their way to New York, they were going to find Odin as a crazed homeless man, which is a pretty undignified way to end his story. Luckily, the director saw sense and ported the scene to Norway and made Odin more serene.
