13 Anticipated 2018 Movies Destined To Disappoint
12. Creed II
The Buzz: 2015's Creed was an unexpectedly fantastic spin-off from the core Rocky series, bringing new meaning to the character of Rocky Balboa and creating a hot new franchise protagonist in Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Creed.
Not too much is known about Creed II yet, but if Jordan brings the same tortured physicality he did to the first movie, writer-director Sylvester Stallone could pull off yet another satisfying smash hit boxing movie.
Why It'll Disappoint: The main problem with this movie is that Ryan Coogler did such a fantastic job directing Creed that Stallone's work on this sequel will almost certainly seem tepid by comparison.
Furthermore, the few narrative details out there sound a little suspect: Adonis fighting Ivan Drago's son sounds like nostalgia run amok at best and dodgy fan fiction at worst.
Simply, Creed managed to feel fresh enough even with its familiar elements, but there's a far greater risk that this sequel will fall into the traps of the Rocky series' worst entries.
