13 Bonkers Theories About 2016’s Movies That Surely Can’t Be True

Peter Venkman...a ghost?

2015 was a huge year for cinema and 2016's certainly not holding anything back either. With any anticipated movie usually comes a heap of fan theories, from the oddly plausible to the hilariously, outrageously insane, and the rumour mill is already working overtime for films hitting screens over the next 12 months. Whether you buy into them or not, like the "Darth Jar Jar" theory for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, they're usually entertaining to read, especially if they're well thought-out or have a basis in what's come before (and even if not, their creativity can still win out). These theories for 13 of 2016's biggest films probably won't be true, but even so, we're secretly hoping they are for the most part, if only to see the collective jaw drop that will take place online and in cinemas all over the world. Logic says they won't be true, but logic also said that the chick in The Crying Game was a chick, Tyler Durden was an actual person, and Ben Kingsley was definitely playing The Mandarin, so who knows? It's time to dig deep into these theories and play a little Devil's Adovcate, dissecting why they could be true, as per clever fan analysis and rumours, but why the simplest solution is usually the right one, that they are merely the product of wishful thinking and over-analysis. Here are 13 bonkers theories about 2016's movies that surely can't be true...
