Hints

After Deadpool's success, Fox not only announced a direct sequel but also an X-Force movie (not starring the iteration of the team that bit the dust so hilariously in Deadpool 2, obviously). Drew Goddard was attached and it was expected to be the next appearance by Deadpool. The Disney issue might make this problematic now, but Goddard says he and Ryan Reynolds are still committed to it as long as Disney are.

Even if it's not X-Force, the fact that Reynolds' sequel made close to $750m worldwide pretty much guarantees he's not thrown out when the deal goes ahead. And the fact that an MCU Deadpool movie is REPEATEDLY brought up tells you everything you need to know about its value to Disney.

Bob Iger was a little evasive in terms of whether Deadpool would come to the MCU (he said Kevin Feige has "lots of ideas"), but Disney SURELY wouldn't sanction a decision to dump one of the only viable brands within Fox's Marvel films right now.

Hopes

Mostly, that Marvel don't mess with the formula too much. Deadpool is obviously a different proposition to the family-friendly MCU material, but he can coexist, absolutely. He managed it with the X-Men for two movies, after all, and dropping in cameos from mainline MCU stars while allowing Reynolds to take shots at his paymasters would be just as perfect.

Just don't dilute the brand or dull its edge. The Disney-like Once Upon a Deadpool served as a good indication that that doesn't quite do it.
