The number of decisions that go into making even the worst movies is absolutely mind-boggling, from the writing of the script, to last-minute on-set directorial calls, the way an actor chooses to play their performance, and of course, any additional mandate that comes down from the studio itself.

As such, it's not at all surprising that a lot of potentially great movies are undone by asinine creative decisions at one or more levels of production, which steal away all the initial promise and make the end product a disappointing monument to squandered potential.

These 13 films were raked over the coals by critics and audiences alike for their endings, for their bizarre tonal choices, and for their simple inability to deliver what audiences wanted, but the infuriating truth is that with some relatively minor tweaking, they could've been exactly what viewers were hoping for.

With some light re-editing, re-writing or re-shooting, these films would've surely been much more successful than they ultimately were. As it stands, they're merely a reminder of what could've been...
