14 Upcoming Movie Remakes That Might Not Actually Suck

The classic 1970s TV show was first adapted to the big-screen with the 2000 movie starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui, released to broadly positive reviews and a strong box office take. The sequel, 2003's Full Throttle, wasn't quite as fruitful, and though it still made bank, Columbia never got around to making a third one.

A retooling is currently on the horizon with Elizabeth Banks set to both produce and direct for a planned June 7, 2019 release. No word on casting yet, but considering Banks' success producing both Pitch Perfect movies and directing the second one, she seems like a pretty solid fit for material like this.

If Sony can keep the budget under control and not make it another Ghostbusters, there's a ton of potential here for a new female-led blockbuster franchise, and considering the previous two movies weren't exactly great, there's no worry about it being a sacrilegious remake.
