15 Most Anticipated Films Of The 2014 Sundance Film Festival

Over 120 feature-length films will screen at the festival this year, which started on January 16th and runs until the 26th.

Sundance 2014 Every year, the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah brings together a community of filmmakers, writers, actors, journalists and filmgoers to see what independent cinema has to offer in the new year. Over 120 feature-length films will screen at the festival this year, which started on January 16th and runs until the 26th. This year marks a return for talented filmmakers who have been at the festival in the past and debuts of promising young talents who are just getting their start. It's an exciting time, even for those who aren't lucky enough to attend. Even though I will not be attending this year, I've chosen 15 films out of the sizable line-up that'll be making their premiere in Park City that I'm looking forward to seeing at some point down the road.

15. Boyhood (Richard Linklater)

Director Richard Linklater, best known for his incomparable "Before" trilogy, returns to Sundance this year to premiere his ambitious, time-based project that has been in the making for years. For the longest time, the project has been referred simply as "Linklater's 12-Year-Project" but it has been officially given the title Boyhood. Production reportedly began in Texas in the summer of 2002 and concluded just last year, with the director shooting scenes over the course of a few weeks every year with the same principle cast. Specific details aren't known about the story, but it has been reported that the film centers on a divorced couple (Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette) and their impact on their son as he grows from a young child to a teenager. This'll surely be a fascinating and cinematically innovative examination on time and human development.
