15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)

14. Missing Link

Missing Link
Laika

Release Date: April 12

The Plot: Myth investigator Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman) sets off to the Pacific Northwest to track down the missing link known as Bigfoot (Zach Galifianakis). Hi-jinks inevitably ensue.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Stop-motion animation studio Laika is four-for-four to date with their movies Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings, so there's no reason to doubt that Missing Link will stand out in a sea of more conventional studio animations.

The trailers look charming as hell, boasting both the eye-popping animation and game vocal performances fans expect from Laika.

It'll probably tank at the box office like most every Laika movie, but with the company being owned by business magnate Phil Knight - who is worth $30 billion - good art seems to take precedent over good business, thankfully.

Releasing a week after Shazam! and the same day as Hellboy, it should prove a solid distraction from all the cape nonsense.
