15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)

From Amy Schumer's first starring movie to a jacked-up Jake Gyllenhaal in Southpaw...

With a ton of highly-anticipated blockbuster movies due for release over the summer (which, according to studio calendars, now pretty much starts at the end of March), film fans won't be stuck for choice when it comes to organising a night out at the cinema. Everyone's going to go see Avengers: Age of Ultron, a lot of people are going to see Furious 7, and basically, you're spoilt for choice if you're on the lookout for big-budget entertainment starring the hottest actors of the moment. But what about those movies which aren't quite as focused on scoring $1 billion at the box office and are instead intent on telling smaller, more intimate stories, be it small-scale dramas or simply more modestly-budgeted genre films? What about the movies designed with a little more thoughtfulness in mind, aimed less at trying to get everyone to come see them and focusing more on offering something different, original and diverting? These 15 movies just might provide that refreshing break from all the superhero movies, CGI-driven mayhem and so on: there's prestigious historical dramas, long-awaited biopics, more grounded action flicks, comedies and even a western. Here are 15 awesome movies to watch this summer which aren't blockbusters. Hopefully they're awesome, anyway...
