11. Killing Me Softly (2002)

Killing Me Softly Heather Graham Joseph Fiennes

Palme d'Or-winning director Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) made his first and only foray into English-language cinema to date with this outrageously cheese erotic thriller starring Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes.

By any serious metric, the film is unconscionably ridiculous, but one can scarcely believe a filmmaker of Kaige's calibre didn't know what he was doing when he signed on for this 100-minute tale of secrets, lies, murder and kinky sex.

The film is really quite entertaining as a wilfully trashy B-movie, thanks to Graham and Fiennes playing-up their roles perfectly, and an abundance of gratuitous sex scenes giving audiences quite the eyeful of Graham in particular.

Somewhat aptly, the film didn't even land a theatrical release in the U.S., only furthering its reputation as a bargain bin cult classic. It's certainly sexier and more entertaining than, say, the Fifty Shades movies.
