At Marvel, It's Mind Over Matter.

In a universe of aliens, infinity stones and literal gods, there has been no power greater in the MCU than the brain. Whether it's a super soldier serum, reality altering particles or a power core that fits snuggly in your chest, the MCU has been shaped by the scientific minds of its most intelligent beings.

Determining who is the top scientist can be tricky. Science isn't just one thing, but consists of a wide variety of fields that try to piece together a small part of the universe. Weighing the impressiveness of one invention against the applications of another isn't an exact science. However, that's what we will try to do here.

Keep in mind this is a list on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not Marvel Comics. There are characters in play, like Peter Parker and T'Challa, that are among the brightest characters in comics. However, as of today we haven't seen their scientific prowess on display in the MCU.

15. The Tinkerer

Phineas Mason, otherwhise known as Tthe Tinkerer, made his only appearance in the MCU to date in Spider-Man: Homecoming as a member of Vulture's gang. Although he is only a mechanic, he has some pretty impressive inventions to his name.

The Tinkerer's scientific background hasn't been made clear, but what we do know that he is a resourceful engineer and technician. With the use of some stolen Chitauri materials, The Tinkerer has made anti-gravity guns, a matter phase shifter and even The Shocker's gauntlets.

The Chitauri are an advanced alien army with far superior technology to our own. Phineas Mason's ability to use their power to create such a wide variety of weapons is handy to say the least.

Spider-Man: Homecoming ended without giving any detail as to the wearabouts of The Tinkerer. The best guest would be the weapons creator is now in hiding. If this is the case, The Tinkerer is too useful to stay on the sidelines for long.
