2015 has been widely touted as one of the most anticipated years in the history of cinema, what with so many classic franchises finally getting belated new installments, as well as promising new ventures, clockwork sequels and so on. It's certainly an exciting time to be a film fan, and whether good or bad, the massive platter of movies due for release this year should deliver a number of unexpected surprises. Just imagine if...a certain hugely-anticipated blockbuster manages to secure Oscar love, or a widely-expected bomb actually turns a 180 and is a huge hit? What if the world's most overpaid actor finally makes another good movie, or if some sure critical duds actually register a poor box office showing to reflect this? And what if a seemingly sucky movie is somehow pretty good? One of the great pleasures of being a film fan is looking back on how a movie has surprised you against your expectations, so what about peering away from the obvious and looking forward to upcoming movies that have the potential to completely defy what seems to already be on the cards? If even just a few of these ridiculous predictions come true, then 2015 will certainly be a year for the ages, one that film buffs won't be able to soon forget.
