15 Great Movies From The 2010s That Are Frustratingly Underrated

14. Green Room

Plot: A punk rock band find themselves trapped in a nightclub being hunted by a gang of murderous neo-Nazis.

Green Room is a razor-sharp, sadistically nasty thriller that's so suspenseful it's almost suffocating and is another one of the decade's finest horror films. Elevated especially by Jeremy Saulnier's ferociously tense directing and an unforgettable, against-type performance by the usually lovable Patrick Stewart as the main antagonist, this is a heart-in-mouth movie that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Alas, just like Kill List, this remains under-seen and it was also an undeserving box office bomb that failed to even recoup its $5 million budget. It doesn't quite seem to have struck a chord with audiences and it's hard to see why. Sure, Green Room favors thrills over character development but so do many other thrillers and it hardly hurts the movie.

2016 was the worst year for films of the 2010s and Green Room is one of the only memorable ones released that year, so it feels especially unfortunate that many viewers not only missed out on a great film but also on one of 2016's best films.
